By Davatec Consulting, February 23, 2010

You may have come across the audit requirement to delete developers (developer keys) from your Development, Quality Assurance or Production system. Developer keys are stored in table DEVACCESS. If this table is not enabled in your system for maintenance via SM30, SE16 or SE16N transaction, you can write a small program and map it to a custom transaction, most likely with some basis authorizations so that not everyone can run it. By Davatec Consulting, February 20, 2010

To create custom transaction, it is suggested that you define the naming convention as simple as possible to make sure that users will remember the transaction and do not have to second guess. Buzzwords That Can Damage Your Résumé

By Webmeister, February 10, 2010

by Robert Half International

Your résumé is designed to communicate your accomplishments and distinguish you from other job seekers, but there are certain words and phrases that can actually disguise your qualifications. For example, if an applicant writes, “Assisted manager in optimizing marketing campaigns,” it’s difficult to determine exactly what the person did or how he or she did it.

Is My Résumé Being Read?

By Webmeister, February 3, 2010

Anthony Balderrama, CareerBuilder.com writer

If you’ve watched the news lately, you’ve seen a reporter standing at a job fair and a line of job seekers winding out the door. Inevitably the reporter interviews an employer who says that for a few open positions, hundreds of applicants have submitted résumés.

You immediately wonder: How many of those applications actually get read?

In a perfect world, hiring managers would have plenty of time to thoroughly read every single résumé that comes across their desks and contact each person to explain why the company is choosing someone else. In reality, the job seekers outnumber available positions in today’s job market, and hiring managers are too busy to hold your hand through every step of the process. Read more »

CC5.2: Cannot assign a blank-padded string to host variable 1.RC:1

By Webmeister, January 30, 2010

We have been contacted by a number of our clients that had the following problem.

When executing the “Risk Analysis” reports in the “Informer” tab, randomly receive the following error message: “Cannot assign a blank-padded string to host variable 1.”

To solve this problem, please go to the rule architect tab in Compliance Calibrator. Search for function PR04 and modify it by clicking on the Permissions tab and open up the permissions for transaction ME45. For authorization object M_EINK_FRG, field FRGCO should be enabled and the field value set to be *. If there is a blank here, enter *. Field FRGGR for this auth object should be disabled. Once this change is made, save the function and then regenerate all rules for this function.

Remembering Names and What to Do When You Forget

By Webmeister, January 23, 2010

Judith Bowman, author of “Don’t Take the Last Donut: New Rules of Business Etiquette”

Remembering names is a challenge for many; therefore, most of us need to work a bit harder at being more proficient. Most people tend to forget names because, typically, we are thinking about what we are going to say, rather than listening and concentrating.

Try this exercise: As soon as someone makes an introduction, either a self-introduction or paving the way for another, use the person’s name immediately and say, “Dr. Doyle. It is a pleasure meeting you, Dr. Doyle.” Do this with each person you meet.

Next, look closely at this individual. Make an association, perhaps with another person you may know with the same name. Then, make a visual association; visualize him or her as the person with the white teeth or who wears pearls. Ask him to say or pronounce his name again, particularly if he has a challenging or unusual name. In a business situation, ask for a business card. Look at the card, then back at the individual and make another visual association with the individual and his name. Finally, say the person’s name again and use it frequently in conversation, which will also make him feel special. Read more »
