As a senior SAP Consultant working on your own, it always comes down to the same question when you start a new project. How reliable is the agency or consulting firm I work for? Will I be paid fairly and on time for my work? You are your own boss and need to make sure that you can plan your finances & professional life accordingly.

Many times, you have to work through multiple layers of agencies and each layer takes a large portion out of the rate the client is paying. When you open the envelope, you get frustrated to work so hard for what you get. On the other hand, the client may be paying a fairly high rate for you and may expect more than they pay for.

Some agencies nowadays only think about getting rich fast without considering that you, the resource, are their most important asset in the transaction. We have also experienced that some agencies did place rather a resource that generated a higher margin than the one resource the client was asking for and that was a perfect match, with the excuse that the resource was not available any more.

  • The following are testimonials from consultants working hard, but getting frustrated about their relationship with their agencies:
  • They add at least 60 bucks in top of your rate. This shows you how much the customer pays for you.
  • Watch your rates. They will try to take the most out of your hourly rate.
  • They are to be avoided. They offer contract jobs at about 1/2 of what is normal.
  • Do not follow up after first contacts. Seems they only collect resumes.
  • Very bad company. They don’t pay on time, withhold payment, completely no supportive. Avoid at all costs.
  • None of the senior consultants want to work with them. They are greedy and use senior persons resume each time to sell a junior guy by comparison. they squeeze the consultant to keep a huge margin as high as 40%. They never pay on time and withold the last few months of payment when you roll off from project. Better avoid them
  • From what I heard, XYZ is not a good company to work for, it is run and managed by people wanting to make the most out of its consultant, and contractors. There is nothing wrong for wanting to make money, everyone does. But if the objective is only for money…. go figure.
  • When employee ask the billing rate they will convince you that they are getting paid less , if you enquire at your client , you will come to know the they make atleast 40-50 bucks in top of your rate. Real money busters!!! Beaware.
  • They always have the worst rates and have no idea about the projects although they claim a great relationship with their clients.
  • I worked for these guys for 7 months, late pay, poor pay and always a hassle. I agree not for professional consultants. I only signed on with them because I knew the recruiter and he quit.

So, why bother having to spend your or the customer’s time on running after your well earned money or having to think about the high markup your agency is taking for not doing anything or just little for you, but taking most of your paycheck? Thinking about how many levels of agencies are between you & the client?

We have the solution you have always talked about with other consultants and were hoping for. A service, where clients can reach out directly to you and contract you for your services for a small, below average fixed markup, no matter how much your rate is. No hidden fees or surprises. What you see is what you get.

One of the testimonials says it all:

The idea behind Consultantbox.com is absolutely brilliant! I am sick of those recruiters – whom I can barely understand – trying to shave $s off my rate.
