Ever wondered what the error codes mean when analyzing your AIS  or trace logs? Here are some hints and how users or administrators should react to the messages:

1  Incorrect logon data (client, user name, password)
User: check the logon data entered (enter data again)
Admin: check the logon data for the service users, for example in the ITS service file
(usually wrong client) or in the RFC destinations

A few days ago, a friend sent me a link to a site called Wolfram|Alpha. I thought that would be a usual website like 1000′s of other websites out there. But when I looked at the demo, it blew my socks off.

Check out the example, like comparing SAP with Oracle. Of course, you can search anything you want or need more information about and the web service will give you the information you may look for. Try it out and become a fan as well!

This post comes from Don Fornes of Software Advice, a web site that compares and reviews manufacturing software.

Throughout its existence, SAP has been known as an enterprise-class applications vendor – one that sells only to really big companies. At the same time, SAP has attempted – through marketing, channels and development – to move “down market” into the realm of small and mid-size enterprises (SMEs). Today, that strategy has resulted in a portfolio of software solutions that might need some explaining. I’ll give it a try.

Before we dig into the SAP portfolio, it’s important to understand a few things about the SME market:

  • There exists a range of SMEs and one-size does not fit all. A $750 million SME has very different needs than a $10 million SME.
  • The smaller the SME, the less likely they are to adopt complex technology. When they do get into technology, they typically like Microsoft platforms (e.g. .Net, SQL Server).
  • SMEs were the first to adopt software as a service (SaaS), and that model continues to gain traction within the SME market. Any SME strategy must include a SaaS strategy.

The implications of those three points for SAP were that SAP could not just “re-package” its core SAP Business Suite – the “big company product” formerly known as R/3 – and call it an SME strategy. SAP actually tried this throughout the 1990s, but in 2002 they started on a new path toward specific solutions designed just for the SME market.

Kristi Patrice Carter, J.D.

There are many different independent contractors that specialize in a myriad of different industries — from security clearance jobs to cosmetic sales to Web site design.

While independent contractors work for a specific company or person, they are usually their own bosses. They enjoy a level of freedom as an expert in their industry, to choose their clients or “bosses” as they see fit.

What is Independent Contracting?
Independent contractors are individuals who choose a specialized industry and learn as much as possible about that industry.  For instance, a freelance writer may work with many different companies as an independent contractor — but that writer has to take the time and make the effort to learn as much about his or her industry as possible so that they can provide their clients with the latest trending services and written projects. The independent contractor is typically paid per job, or for several sets of jobs depending upon the agreement between him/her and the company they’re working for at the time.

You may have come across the audit requirement to delete developers (developer keys) from your Development, Quality Assurance or Production system. Developer keys are stored in table DEVACCESS. If this table is not enabled in your system for maintenance via SM30, SE16 or SE16N transaction, you can write a small program and map it to a custom transaction, most likely with some basis authorizations so that not everyone can run it. continue reading…

To create custom transaction, it is suggested that you define the naming convention as simple as possible to make sure that users will remember the transaction and do not have to second guess. If a user needs a custom transaction to browse table MARA, you can either call the transaction ZSE16_MARA or simply ZMARA. continue reading…
