Frequently Asked  SAP Questions: Answered!

SAP Basis

How can I log debug Activities?

Debug activities are logged and can be viewed with SM21.

How do I set my defaults for SQ01, SQ02?

To set your query area, insert parameter AQW as 'blank' in your user parameters to set it to Standard. If you don't set this parameter, standard will be "Global"

Insert a default query group via parameter AQB (check the user group name in SQ01).

SAP Security

Where can I find the change log for changes via SE16N ?

The following tables show these changes.

SE16N_CD_KEY : Change Documents – Header
SE16N_CD_DATA : Change Documents – Data

You can also run report RKSE16N_CD via SE38 (or create a custom transaction for it for ease of use).

How can I restrict SE16 by org. level?

You can accomplish this by using authorization object S_TABU_LIN. This object can be used to restrict access to tables on the basis of organizational criteria. Organizational criteria stand for business work areas (for example, country, plant, company code) and represent a connection between key fields of tables and the authorization fields of S_TABU_LIN.

What are derived roles?

The concept of parent and derived roles was introduced by SAP to simplify role administration tasks. Its specially helpful while mapping security for large enterprises spread across multiple geographies or divisions. A child role derived from a parent role will have all attributes (transactions/ authorization object values) same as it parent except the values of the Organizational Level fields (plant, company code, sales organization). Thus maintenance is simplified as only the org levels need be maintained at the derived role level.

How can I disable the user menu in SAP?

Maintain table SSM_CUST .

  • To enable the user menu for all SAP users set ALL_USER_MENUS_OFF = No.
  • To disable it, set ALL_USER_MENUS_OFF = Yes.
